![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Back to the Wednesday D&D page ![]() 1.Site of the Wreck of the Pearl Mist – This is where the Pearl Mist was attacked and destroyed by the pirate ship Jotunn, the ironclad dreadnought warship captained by one of the legendary Nine Demon Pirate Lords, Kane Skullcrusher. Before the ship went down, a giant tidal wave swallowed both ships and the party awakened inside a dark and unknown cavern. 2.The Lost Island of Tortola – Tortola is an ancient lost island said to exist far offshore the continent of Zakhara. The location on the map represents the last known location of the island, as legend suggests that the island has disappeared and then reappeared mysteriously elsewhere. Explorers and adventurers in search of Tortola have traveled far into the depths seeking its hidden wonders over the years, but most either are unsuccessful, or do not return. Tortola is actually an ancient demi-god spirit creature, which appears as a massive, small island sized sea turtle. The Tortolans are the native tribe that lives on the shell of the creature. Their leader, Hankunin, is a tribesman that has offered to help the party by allowing them to use Tortola as a base of operations (Bastion). The Tortolans have also agreed to help the party, and have offered themselves in service to the PC’s, although they are not allowed to leave the island. 3.City of Oathbone – Oathbone is located in the harsh region known as the badlands. This major city is settled in a dusty, but mineral and ore rich mountainous area and was at one point a territory of the Sol Kingdom, however it is now ruled by the vicious Orc warlord known as Muzgash. Oathbone was once known as the City of Sol Daiv, the Silver City, and was known for not only mining, but also agriculture, and was provided access to vitally needed clean water by the tail end of the Bengali River. Muzgash has since dammed the main tributary and has redirected it to The Pit. The city now obtains its clean water from an unknown source. The Sol Kingdom has united to wage a long and painful war against the Orc barbarians, and has expended many resources in the war effort, which is now at a stalemate. 4.The Pit – An industrial major port city that was at one point famous for building most of the larger ships that operate in the region. This has been conquered by the hordes of Muzgash, who now use the shipyards to construct his own battle fleet. 5.City of Sol Deneb – Situated in the Bengali River Delta, Sol Deneb, the Ivory City, one of the two major cities of the Sol Empire, ruled by the great and powerful Sultan Kosem III. The lush and fertile river lands make the city a major hub to produce food surplus for the entire region. Heavily fortified with soldiers and palisade walls, the city also hosts most of the ground forces for the Sol Kingdoms. To the northwest, Calymede Lake acts as a reservoir for the Sol Kingdom’s clean water consumption. 6.City of Sol Kanar – One of two major cities of the Sol Empire, ruled by the wise and knowledgeable Sultan Osman IV. The Golden City is a major port city with vast libraries that many scholars visit on sabbatical to study the ancient lore contained within. The city hosts the largest portion of the Sol Kingdoms naval fleets and also has a few shipyards that produce new vessels. 7.City of Huzuz – A major port city in the Province of Daruun, the city is under the control of the Sol Empire and has a small expeditionary force stationed there to uphold the law. Huzuz is a major vacation destination for the denizens of the northern continents, and a diverse array of travelers congregate here to enjoy the beautiful weather all year round. Huzuz is situated at the bottom of a mountain that is the background to the Amber Spit, the most pristine and beautiful, white, sugar sand beaches in the entire world. Also, a major port city, but primarily for passengers, although trade can be competitive and robust from the numerous wealthy trading captains and guildsmen that have set up retirement jobs at their beach side offices. 8.Red Eye Island – This overgrown tropical jungle island is uninhabited. Legend says that all who venture on to the island are never seen again. Once, a bloody and torn journal was found of an explorer who ventured here, and his last sentence spoke of “red eyes watching me from the jungle…”, hence the name. Legends also speak of an ancient fortress that used to exist on the island that was ruled by a powerful wizard who delved too deep into forbidden arcana. 9.Lost Ruins of Ilyrium – The island of Ilyrium was once home to an ancient empire that was destroyed when a giant earthquake erupted, severing the island and causing a large volcano to erupt, destroying the city that existed there. Legend says that the volcano, Mt. Pylan, is the resting place of Pylandros, the earth titan ancient demi-god creature. The Straits of Ilyrium are a dangerous, but popular place for privateers to hide out, and is also a popular spawning ground for creatures that come from the depths to spawn and reproduce, this makes it popular with adventurers or hunters seeking glory. 10.Brigand’s Island – Once the home of a confederated kingdom of the renegade pirate lords, their alliance crumbled due to infighting, nearly killing them and their armadas. The remaining few instead learned a lesson, and instead of a life of piracy, they resorted to other less savory business enterprises. The City of Haartano is a major city on Brigand’s Island that is home to a variety of different features such as a fighting arena, gambling halls, breweries and distilleries, bars, clubs, prostitution halls, and animal racing. Haartano is ruled by a long lineage of merchant lords, with a mysterious central figurehead known only as the Smoldering One, who appears to be the overall central authority but is very rarely observed in person. The oligarchy of merchant lords govern the city and manage all aspects of Haartano’s trade and business enterprises. 11.The City of Mephuza – Mephuza is located in the Daruun Province and is only accessible by water, or only the bravest of jungle explorers. Mephuza is a major port city that is a trading and merchant hub. Many legit commodities are traded here and brought to other regions, but there is also an illicit and robust black market trade that primarily operates its supply chain out of Mephuza. Many plants and items obtained from the jungles are distilled into substances sold on the black market, but Mephuza also deals in forbidden magic items and slavery. A former general of the Sol Empire, Daphne Bellegosian now rules Mephuza, but cares little for law and order and the Mephuza Black Market and other illicit activity thrives. Daphne’s only objective is to plan another expedition to the jungle, to find the Lost City of Heliod, which is said to contain the power to raise an army to conquer a great enemy. 12.City of Ubuuntu – Ubuuntu is a dangerous place ruled by delegations of the two most powerful tribes in the Daruun Province, the Zunimassa and the Mundunungu people. Both tribes are in a constant state of war, but Ubuuntu is relatively peaceful as a truce is ordered in the city at all times to allow for some trading and agriculture to occur. Outsiders are not welcome, and locals are hostile to any non-tribesman unless by permission from the Ubuuntu Chiefs. These are usually regular traders that have long standing envoy agreements with the tribes. Both tribes practice ritual headhunting and are master bushmen in the jungle environment. 13.Storm King Island – This ancient place is a lush and wild deep jungle island that is said to be home to an ancient monastery that legend says was the Temple of Shen Long, the spirit demi-god creature, that has been long forgotten. The jungle is thick and hard to traverse, and there are also said to be ancient beasts that protect the island from all who try to enter. 14.Sun Kissed Isles – There are 17 islands in total that comprise the Sun Kissed Isles. Each island is home to a different tribe of peaceful natives that thrive on the land and sea. The largest island, Pearl Island, is beautiful and popular for sportsmen and traders. The largest tribe also lives on Pearl Island, the Atalan Tribe, led by a council of powerful druids that believe that the lands of the Southern Sea are living, and humans and demi-humans are its lifeblood. 15.Pandemonium Islands – An extremely dangerous chain of islands far offshore, with the only safe passage being Black Throat Passage, a small channel of safe water through the depths that leads to a fog shrouded group of 9 islands that are said to contain great evil. Some legends say that something terrible rests beneath the islands, and they are the gateway to Pandemonium itself. Long ago, the Southern Sea felt the terrible scourge of the Nine Demon Pirate Lords, who based their operations from the Pandemonium Islands. Some say that the Nine Demon Pirate Lords are beginning to return to the Southern Sea. 16.The Burial Islands – A group of small islands that are home to priests and clerics in the Order of Suun of the Sol Empire that manage the large burial mausoleums that are built on the islands. 17.The Depths – The outer continental shelf area of the continent of Zakhara. The water depths drop considerably to the inky void below. Great terrors are said to rest here in The Depths, and only the bravest adventurers and hunters go exploring there. The Great Leviathan, Katarkos, is a spirit demi-god creature that is said to be the King of the Leviathans. 18.The City of Delcimar – Once the sister city of Huzuz, Delcimar is a shadow of its former self, decimated by the Orc tribes of Muzgash and nearly a decade of war.
